L-Jet Wiring - 1976 914

I have begun working my 76.

The 2.0L has been removed and a 1.8L installed, with (yep) a single carb...

I plan to return the 1.8L to L-Jet (I have a complete L-jet set up for a 1.8L).

Will I run into any internal wiring issues on the relay board, etc...?

Thanks, any info is appreciated.

Jeff

Depends on how much of the FI parts you actually get. There are a few parts that you don't want to forget, like the resistor pack and the double relay. Both of those, I believe, hang off the battery tray for the 1.8 car.

The relay board and chassis wiring harness should all be the same between the 2.0 and the 1.8. There may be changes that were made when the carb conversion was done that you will have to undo, though. (Like fuel pump wiring, for instance.)

Thanks Dave.

I have all of the L-jet parts, glad to know I won't have to worry about the wiring too much.

L-jet gets ECU and fuel pump power through the double relay. You'll need to get one and wire in the body half.

You'll need to make the following connections:
88d to fuel pump power
86a to starter yellow wire
88z to non-switched power
86c to ignition coil 15
85 to ground

you never changed the relay board when you went to a carb, you just changed the 14 pin wiring loom. When you change back to FI the FI wiring plugs back into a connector on the relay board

Hi,

Thanks Jess.

The relay board wasn't removed by the previous owner, I don't anticipate any problems (or at least too many) when returning it to FI.
