Group 42 Battery Recommendations for 914

Consulting Consumer Reports, they don't even have a category for Group 42 anymore. I currently have a red top Optima. It still cranks fine but it struggles to start when the engine is hot. The car has been completely gone through all the grounds cleaned up parts of the fuel injection replaced Etc. There's even been a direct line going from the battery to the starter. But after the car gets hot, it still struggles to start. So I'm hoping a battery replacement will remedy the problem. The battery is 4 years old and has about 4000 miles on it. It's also a little too tall as it's not a Group 42 and that side of the engine lid sticks up a little bit.

I'd like a sealed gel or AGM battery, but not finding anything in this size. Interstate only makes one battery for Group 42 and it's not a sealed battery. DieHard Gold batteries come recommended but I haven't found a Group 42 battery in that. Can anybody recommend a quality, long-lasting Group 42 battery? Thanks!

I would just try to find something close to a group 42 size. I use Optima's and I would charge it with an Optima charger once a year.

Buy a group 24... Watch the polarity they have a right or left.

Fits perfectly, 1/2 inch smaller...

Just did it this week. Take your battery to Walmart just to make sure. 99% sure it's a group 24. 99$
