Where to get various boots?

Searched all over the Pelican catalog, but can't seem to find the following for a 2.0

Oil temp sender boot
Oil press. sender boot
Speedo drive gear o-ring (seal)
Speedo drive gear boot

I tried to use the AA catalog (I know....I should know better!), but their site is pretty much a pain in the &^% to use.

Any ideas if Pelican indeed has these, and if not, where to go?

Thanks!

Mike

Mike,

I'll bet PP does have all those items, and more. I, for one, wish the online catalogue were more complete, or I mean to say, show all that they have to offer. The word I get, from private messages, is "Give us a call, we can probably help". Which they probably can, but I guess I must be spoiled or lazy or both, because picking up the phone seems like such a hassle. If I would see something in the online catalogue, like some of those items you mentioned, there is a good chance I would order it, even if I didn't need a new one at that exact moment. I'll bet I have $500 worth of odds-and-ends parts sitting on the floor next to me right now, just waiting for me to get off my lazy munchkin-butt to install. And that's fine with me. But as I wrote Wayne or Tom, forget which, If I don't see it, I won't buy it.

Sorry for all the whining sh... uh, I mean, shining wit...

Ed

Well, Ed--if the phone is too much of a hassle, you can always email. Steve S (steve@pelicanparts.com) in Sales is definitely 914 people. Drop him a note and ask if you need stuff like that.

It would require a rather sizeable investment of time (which is money) to include every single stock 914 part in the 914 catalog. And even if you, and a dozen other people, wound up buying a bunch of small items they wouldn't have bought ordinarily, it still winds up costing more money than it makes. It's a pain, but Pelican is not going to stay in business by losing money.

I have purchased the first two boots from Pelican in the past. I haven't gotten the other two myself, but I'd be surprised if we couldn't get one or both.

Try local VW shops in your area. Mine has a huge rack full of boots and stuff. I emailed Pelican 4 times about buying various pieces of engine tin and never got a response (in their defense, they prolly get hundreds of e-mails per day, so maybe my 4 got lost in the mix I;ve always had pleasant and productful phone conversations with them, however.

I've had the exact same problem with Pelican not returning my emails.

It could be that we are e-mailing a general Pelican e-mail address, and not a specific person, kind of like mail@somebody at pelican.com. I have always had great success speaking with them, and close to everything in my engine since the rebuild was from Pelican. Maybe this could be some constructive criticism...?

Thumbs up Pelican &hard to find parts

I guess my experence with Pelican is differeent than some of you. Last Mon March 31 st. Called P.Parts ,about gaskets & crush washers for the center console oil temp. sensor in oil pan. Talked to Steve, this stuff isn't listed in catolog, not only did he check for availibity, but went to get it him self. Stuff arrives at about 1;00 o'clock Sat. HOW CAN YOU GET BETTER SERVICE THAN THAT????
Flip side of the coin is, A.A. still owes me a back ordered part sinceOct. 2001. HOW CAN YOU GET WORSE SERVICE THAN THAT??? Just the 2 cent's of a OLD pelican head Dave
