Bending new lines from M/C to reservoir.
I am installing new everything on the braking system. I am having trouble in getting the bends right on the plastic tube running from the Master Cylinder to the brake reservoir. I thought heat from a hair dryer would work, but it buckled anyway. Please help! Thanks Deems

Do you mean the blue rubber hose?

The hose connects to plastic tubes that are inserted in the master cylinder through grommets and washers.
Find some brake assembly paste. That will help things slide together more easily--even easier than brake fluid, I am told! Unbolt the reservoir from the chassis and push it down about as far as it goes. Put the tubes into the MC, then push everything back up and then mount the master cylinder to the chassis. This can help you get the extra leverage you need to get the tubes to seat. Keep an eye on the connections when you get brake fluid into the system; it is evidently not that hard to get it wrong enough to leak. If you leave out the washers, things will go together more easily, but it will leak. --DD |
