1975 1.8 Stalls when warm
I have a 1975 1.8 with the stock FI. I have replaced all the vac lines, fuel pump and filter, intake couplers, throttle body gasket, and have cleaned all of the electrical connectors and ground points. The car starts and idles fine but after it warms up it just dies. Almost like the key was turned off. If I try to start it back right away I have to hold my foot on the gas to keep it running. If I let it sit for five or so minutes it starts back up like nothing is wrong. This just started happening a week ago. What should I look at to correct this? Thanks

This is a tech manual for the 912 L jet, but much of it should apply. May also be faulty cylinder heat temp sensor. Should be 2.5 ohm resistance. Pull the wire and check resistance between CHT sensor and ground, > 2.5 ohm it is bad. Engine must be cold to test this. Be sure you have the vac lines hooked up correctly, easy to mess it up. If unmetered air is getting in, it will run lean/hot. Had similar symptoms from a cracked intake boot on my L jet VW bug

Check your fuel mixtures On the L-jet the mixture screw is capped on the air control box. you'll need to prey off the cap if its still on. I had a similar problem on my 74 1.8 It was way lean at idle. 15:1 AFR was way to lean richened up to 13.5:1 and my stalling and hunting idle was cured. You will need a LM2 or some sort of analyzer to do this.
