Cables

Hello all of you...

Well today I decided to see what cables I need to replace on my Porsche, all of them...

Anyway I went to remove the cables and I am having a difficult time figureing out how to remove the center gauge cluster, that encompases the stick and defrost switch, without ruining it. Anyone have this in there car? anyone remove it? (Anyone want to replace some cables???) Any help would be great.

Thank you,
Germain

Removal of the center console is fairly straightforward. It is just held in with several screws. The real trick is in finding the screws.

Without going home and looking (mine is still out waiting for the new carpet) I don't remember if you need to remove the center cushion / map pocket or not. If you do, just open it up and look for the small screws on the inside.

The Console section is held in place by screws on the passenger and driver side of the assembly. Once you can tip that out, you can remove the gauge section from the assembly and set it aside (no need to disconnect all the gauges if you do it right).

If you are going to replace your heater cables, you will need to remove the base around the gear shift too. I find it easiest to remove the shift knob and unscrew the heater knob then slide the base up over the gear shift. Careful, there is a small wire going to the underside of the "defrost" light.

Any problems, email me direct at kevinw@olympus.net.
