Glad this was posted over here. I put it up at 914world and hopefully it leads to reuniting the car with Wayne if he wants it back

Well it does say Loss: Theft and Damage: Theft so looks like it was recovered and if Wayne had been made whole then it belongs to the insurer?

I hope he got more for his settlement than that asking price.

I would think, that before they sell it , the Original owner would get the opportunity to get it back on refund of the settlement price - some payment for damage to the car?

That would be the right way to do it. There is right and there is legal though

I'm 99.9% sure that Wayne is already on top of this (I heard rumblings about the 914 surfacing a few weeks ago). I'm sure once there is a resolution he'll have an update!

Yes indeed. The detective working the case from two years ago phoned me the other day with a tip that they may be on the way to recovering the car. It turned up inside of a stolen trailer about a week ago in Long Beach. I waited almost a year to take the insurance payout, assuming it had been parted out. The car must go to the auction now, but I will be there to bid on it and reclaim it back. I spent several hours there today scoping it out - you need to be a licensed dealer to bid at this auction (I'm setup already there).

Thanks for the info, closing the thread for the time being, I will report back soon.

-Wayne

Bingo. Baby is back home again! The full story is coming soon, but the moral of the story is "don't mess with Wayne". The fellow who stole it went back to jail (he was out on parole). The car has relatively minimal damage that I can see, although I have not been able to get it started (the ignition switch is all "screwdrivered up").

Full story coming soon...

-Wayne

Funny you mention that, I have to go look back 20 years ago to see if I already wrote an article on that. I can't recall!

You got your car back and a dirtbag went to jail.

That's a great chapter to the story.

The only thing left is...

"and they lived happily ever after."

Congrats, I am very happy for you.
