Windage tray 1.7L

DO some 1.7 engines have the windage tray ?
Or all the 1.7L do not have a windage tray ?
I have a 1973 914 1.7 and would like to know if it has a windage tray.

All 4 cylinder 914s were equipped with a "rain" tray ("windage" tray?) attached under the open portion of the engine lid with two drains that exited down to either side of the engine. I understand the "early" versions of this tray are hard to find, however the later version should fit a '73.

Scott,
I mean in the engine, do some of the 1.7 L engines have an oil windage tray ?
I know what you mean by the rain tray in the engine lid, but that is not what I am asking for.
Thanks.

No worries. not sure regarding your intended question - hopefully someone is more familiar with Type IV motors who can answer your question. Best, Scott

Some 1.7s did not have the windage tray inside the sump. I don't know if it was all of the W-code motors, or only the earlier W-code motors. I believe the EA (and EB) 1.7s did have windage trays.

EDIT: Aha! A quick look at the Official Parts Diagrams says that up until W 0057460 they did not, and later W-code and all other 914-4 engines did have them.

Dave,
Thanks.
That means that my engine has a windage tray, W 0057460 was fitted to a 1970 914. I will check if I have a W, EA or EB engine.
