MPS DEAD - Sigh

Tried to send this to Paul Anders - Mail Bounce - can anyone forward this note?

Paul,

I recently purchased by 9th 914 – a 2L 1974. All the parts are on the car – Hell Hole is fair,

The car was stored in 1986, has not run since. Fuel Tank was a nightmare – all new fuel lines and the gas tanks is being reconditioned.

I removed the MPS and was curious about it since it was disconnected (as were many other hoses). I found your note on rennlist – very impressive obsessive! Just Like Me!

My son (16) is in charge of this project – he is a self taught welder and is not afraid of anything. He cleaned the Hell-Hole, removed rust from 100places, etc.

I purchased a Mityvac (metal) and showed it to my son – he played with it and experimented. The next day I hooked it to the MPS and squeezed the handle and after a pull or two noticed that I pressurized the MPS instead of vacuuming it. UGH. Changed to vacuum and I hear the bellows move but the pressure leaks rapidly – 1-2 seconds……..sigh.

Sooo, I believe I over stressed the system with positive pressure as you outline in the Q/A, shall I send it to you? Thank you in advance Paul,

C
