914/6 GT rear valance

Byron,

I don't think the 914/6 GT had a rear valance. . . .

914-6 GT race cars never had a rear valence, the unique GT muffler didn't allow it, and it also proved useless in road racing, not to mention it was in the way (every second counts!)...

If you found one and installed it, my suggestion would be to take it off, it doesn't belong there. Got to keep the facts straight for the 'next generation'...

I beleive that there are cooling advantages from not having the rear valence.
I noticed a difference when I removed the one on my 914-6.
Also,Patrick Motorsports sells what they call a "914-6 GT rear valence for $175.00

"M471" is more like it...

Improperly referenced or named, if that is the case...

That part should NOT be called a "914-6 GT Rear Valence" as there is NO SUCH THING. All it does is create confusion for the "not-informed" possibly directing them to look for a part that never was, a part never used in any 914-6 GT.

This is the problem, every 914 with fiberglass or steel fenders are commonly called "GT", if anything, they are more M471 than anything related to a 914-6 GT. The same applies to the flared 911's, often time referenced as a "RSR". If all I ever had to do is flared a 911 to turn it into a RSR, one could save tenths of thousands of dollars.

In my opinion, that part should be more closely labeled as a "Rear Valence for a M471 Optioned 914". That, I can understand...
