968 motor in a 924S..... air filter ideas wanted.
What cold air intake solutions are there?
I currently have a cheap-o short cone filter for temporary use, but it sits right in front of the radiator...... Has anyone done this motor swap and managed a good cold intake solution that puts the filter in the corner? Away from the center of the car? Ideas and thoughts would be appreciated. BTW.... this motor in this car is AWESOME!!!!! Cheers! |
Can you not just fit an S2 filter housing under the header panel and pipe it to there?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1530836138.jpg

Thanks for the photo reference....... but I "think" the problem is .... the 924 nose panel is not removable like on the 944 model If anyone knows, please chime in Cheers |
if you're willing to cut sheet metal you could get the S2 box in there.
...but I wonder if you couldn't squeeze a 944S 2.5L 16v airbox in there, since you have a MAF which packages easier than the AFM? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1237214491.jpg http://jimroal.com/cars/944b.jpg |
The header panel on a 924S is removable. Just screws and bolts.

Thank you!

Hi I don't know if this will help you. I used a turbo bumper on a 86 naturally aspirated car and used the inter cooler vent for a cold ram air filter on my car. I lowered my rad and removed the hood latch hardware and made a ram air box. I have a k&n cone filter inside the box that attaches to my intake hose

I would love to send you some pics but I can't get my phone to load up pics on the forum

I was going to try and build one.... but I barely have the time to drive my car these days. Thank you for the idea! I will post results. Seems like a great start |
I have a local shop doing a 968 conv of my 944 in a few weeks time. I have a 944S airbox and mounts coming from sonnen & 944online. i have a 968 and a 944S2 intake as well but I think the 944S airbox will work best. i'm trying to keep it stock rather than go with a pod filter.

I replaced the stock S2 airbox with a K&N cone
