Porsche 944 Turbo Cam in NA engine

Has anyone installed a 944 Turbo cam in a NA engine?
If so what were the results? More Torque? I had someone tell
Me the cam from a 944 Turbo would result
In more Torque and better revving 944 NA engine.

If you have an early 944 then you already have the 951 cam. They switched the N/A over to a cam with slightly longer exhaust duration around the 1987 model year. Off the top of my head I believe the torque was 140 ft-lbs @2800 rpms for the early car and 143 ft-lbs @3000 rpms for the 1987 model. That said, it isn't like the power suddenly come on around 3000 rpm, it sorta feels like the later engine pulls a little stronger before leveling off there. I hope that helps!

Yes Thank you. So an early car would be considered
an 83? So an 85.5 would not have this cam?

I believe the longer duration cam wasn't used until 1986 or 1987 models years.

No, all Turbos and '83-86 NA have exact same cam.

If you put Turbo/early-NA cam on 87+ car, that would make it slower

Get Web Cams to modify your existing cam or buy and new and trade your core to them.

Good idea! I am going to call them and check
the cost to modify my cam. New one with 274 grind
is around $750.

Hey Spencer thank you for reminding me about Paeco! I need to call them. I sent Elgin an email, but never heard back. I did check out Paeco's website, but will call them.
