944 Books

I’ve recently purchased my first Porsche, a 1989 944S2.

I’ve been lurking here since I bought the car a few weeks ago. I’ve been looking for some reading and reference material on the car and have been able to come up with next to nil.

Id really like to be able to do my own routine maintenance on the car, so I’m going to pick up a Haynes manual and anything else I can find from Barnes and Noble. Along with the Haynes manual, I'd like to pick up a few more coffee table and informational type books. I was just wondering if anyone has any input on any of the following books, or any other recommendations:

The Porsche 924/944 Book
Peter Morgan

Porsche, 944
Brian Long

Porsche 924, 928, 944, 968
David Vivian

Porsche 924, 944 and 968: A Collector's Guide
Michael Cotton

Any help is appreciated

Porsche Crest

I have the book "original porsche 924/944/968". It's pretty good. It seems to be more of a technical book than a history book, but I've Got another, don't remember who it is by, but it's just called "porsche" That one covers mostly history, the two together cover everything...

You need to find the PDF manual files. Or a set of the factory manuals

I have the one by Michael Cotton, and it is quite informative. It has a list of improvements that the factory made year by year, has a section on how they did in racing, cut away models, testing, and lot's of pictures.

I have copies of Porsche 944 Ultimate Portfolio, copiled byR.M.Clarke
published by Brooklands Books in the UK, and Micheal Cotton.
The Brooklands book has alot of comparisons as well as history with specs and different models. The comparison between a N/A 944 and an XJS Jaguar or 300 ZX was very interesting.

Definetly go the PET program its great for finding out which part goes were when you get the car in a box.
