Door “plunger” switch issues

Hi all, my dome light doesn’t work and my power windows pop fuses from time to time. So I pulled my little door plunger switch off to see if anything has broken loose and sure enough a green wire has been pulled out and is exposed. Can anyone tell me where it goes? Is it doubled up with another wire into a terminal?

Cheers!
Drew

You don’t tell us what year or model you have so cant really help. You can always look it up yourself in the wiring diagrams for your car.

Pretty sure they’re all the same all the way back to the 924. And I can’t find any wiring information that points me in the right direction, do you have any idea what it could be?

Nope, 924, 924S & 944/1 is different from 944/2, 968 but if you’re not going to tell us what car you have, or what side of the car has the loose wire, here is a random wiring diagram I’ve pulled up for you from one of the 4 cylinder transaxles, sorry no green wire though.

I’ve attached a sort of extension to the wire because there wasn’t enough slack for me to pull it anywhere.

There are two terminals on that drivers door switch, on one terminal there is a single red/white wire and on the other terminal there is a green/red wire and two brown/white wires. There is no solid green wire coming from that loom and nothing nearby that I can see. Maybe it’s some sort of aftermarket alarm wiring that’s been disconnected.

So you’ve got three wires going into one of those terminals? My power windows pop fuses when I try to roll them down and I think this may have something to do with it. The green wire in my photo is aftermarket (I just butt connected an extension using similar wire because there’s hardly any slack) but the green wire I extended does not look aftermarket, it looks like it may have slipped out of a terminal from somewhere

Like I said there is no solid green wire to that switch but there is a green/red wire which is a mainly green wire with a red tracer color. Are you sure your unidentified wire is not green/red? If it is then you need to attach it back on the terminal with the two brown/white wires.

I was working in poor lighting, and I didn’t have much slack in the wire to get a for sure look at it but it looked mostly green, then I attached an aftermarket green solid wire just so I wouldn’t lose it in the door. But I’ll double check when I get near the car again.
