powder coating
I'd like to hear some opinions of powder coating from people who have done it themselves or post places that do good jobs.

I bought one of those cheap PC off ebay and I think they work great! It will take a few times to get it right, but I've done a lot of PC on my Stang. The trick is getting an oven big enough. I was lucky. Someone gave me the oven from the local university's chemistry lab!!!
BTW, Eastwood has a lot of PC stuff, but they are proud of it ($$$$)!

Powder coating is very durable - I've done every thing from Harley-Davidson frames to TR-6 A-arms. I love it for suspension parts - never get any stone chips.

I'm not sure because your parts have to "cook" for at least 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the metal. A caliper is a thicker casting and it doesn't get hot as quick as an aluminum intake. I vote would be No; you'll need to take the seals out. The only argument against my .02 would be that the caliper see's temps well over 350 degrees, so it might be ok.
Any other opinions???

The reason I ask is because if you follow the steps in this
http://prospeedmotorsport.com/caliper_re-condition.htm procedure the pistons are taken out after the powder coating. Looking for some experienced opinions as I am wanting to do this myself. |
