Where does the A/C air come out of?

I know this probably sounds silly, but where does the air from the A/C system come out on a 924S?

When I turn my A/C on, the clutch engages on the compressor and the radiator fans come on and everything works as it's supposed to except that I can't figure out where the air is coming from. With the A/C on full force I can hear the sound of whooshing air but none of it's coming out of any vent that I can think of. Certainly nothing coming out of the vents above the center console. I'm assuming that since the A/C is a separate system (complete with its own exclusive fan) that it has its own vents somewhere. I just can't figure out where.

Thanks a lot guys. Also, anyone know where I can get R-12 relatively cheaply? Or if R-22 is compatible with an R-12 system? (Have a friend who works in refridgeration who says that R-12 and R-22 are completely compatible with R-22 being much, much, much cheaper.) If not, how much is it to exchange the dryer and convert the bloody thing to R-134a? Something that I could do myself?

Aaron

The 924's had notoriously Bad ventilation....you may want to trace all the ducts back from the blower into the car.. snake em and mark where they go..... make a diagram.. I've seen a ventilation diagram for the 924 ventilation system vs the upgraded 85.5 system w/dash improvements...but I can't remember where I saw it....poop

you could install a different blower if there's too much turbulance in the routing of the vent tubes....

Make sure that the defog slider (verticle slider) is in the down position and the diverters (horizontal sliders) are to the left , drivers side for full selection of A/C air to the cabin (85.5 and after model 944)

The heating system actually works very well. Everyone had said that the ventilation was bad, but I've been quite pleased with it. Aside from the slow reaction to temperature changes caused by my leaky heater control valve.

Now if only I could get the A/C figured out...

Car is a 924S. That means it's the early pre 1985.5 interior.

R22 requires higher operating pressures. I don't think a R12 compressor can cope with it. System is not designed for it. A home AC has a hermetically sealed compressor. A car compressor is not hermetically sealed.

Ah. Thanks. That would be the reason that R-22 works in residential/commercial A/C and it's never been used in cars.
