front brake hose routing - what the heck?
I have an '87 924S and am having some issue determining whether the brake lines I got for the car fit correctly, because they seem a bit short.
Anyhow, on the 944 it looks like the brake hardline comes down from the top to the bracket off the frame, and then the soft line attaches below the bracket, goes through the clip on the strut, and up into the caliper. A simple S-curve. On the 924S, however, the hardline comes from below the frame rain and UP into the bracket - so the soft line goes upward from the bracket, then has to curve down to under the strut bracket, up through it and then down again to the caliper. A "double-S" curve. For the late 944 setup, it seems this line would be the correct length, but man it seems pretty short for the 924S. It technically reaches, but the curves are awfully tight it seems. Looks like the early 944 has the same orientation as the 924. I've verified that the line I have is listed for all 924 and pre-86 944s. Can someone verify for me the routing of the line? Or even better, anyone with a 924 or early 944 have a brake hose off the car that they coudl measure the length of? Just want to make sure this line isn't "too tight" before I install it. Thanks. |
