Low oil pressure

I have been having start issues with my 87 944 so I swapped ecu and now it’s starts up fine. The only problem is now I have really low oil pressure. My oil pressure was always perfect. Even though I checked many things during my no start problem, the only things that were changed were the dme relay and Ecu. My oil level is correct and recent oil change also. The oil pressure is reading 1 to .5 at idle (950 rpm ) and at about 1400 - 5000 it reads 2- 2.25 . Can the changing of the ecu have caused this. The old ecu was sent out and maybe had been modded before I bought the car. I am sending this back to the place that did the work. The ecu I replaced it with is a stock unit.

Low oil pressure can be symptomatic of bad oil sending unit, bad rod bearings, questionable grounds, too light oil grade, coolant/oil cooler (check the dipstick and coolant tank), oil pressure regulator or worn oil drive seal/sleeve on the front of the crank, or lastly, the gauge. Start up cold you should see full scale gauge readings until normal engine temp when it should drop to around 2 idle and between 4 and 5 at high rpm's.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Thanks aware of what can cause low oil pressure but mainly concerned if the ecu swap has anything to do with it. When I first swapped it with my 83 ecu I know this is not the correct one but was trying to isolate my nostart issue oil pressure was fine. When I put in the new but used 87 ecu it has low oil pressure. The old ecu also had good oil pressure but would not let the motor run. I’m sending the ecu to get redone and will install to see if it returns to normal. Fingers crossed.
