no start, no crank

I have been trying to figure out whats wrong with my car, but too dam cold and wet here in E. PA covered IN 1.5'' of snow. In the past 2 weeks my car hasnt started twice. The first time i was at a store, shut the car off for a minuets, came back out, and nothing. The dash lights came on, no tach bounce, I heard fuel pump buzzing. Tried jumping, and still nothing. Went back to my house, got another car, drove with a starter, and a battery. Did nothing to my car, and she started right up. The other day I go to start her and the same symptoms. A few hours later I go to start her up, and she fired right away. Ever since that last start up, she has been sitting in the driveway. A weird thing that I noticed is that when I was driving the buzzer would be on, more often than not. Put in new reference sensors (for the no tach bounce), a spare starter, and switched out batterys a few times. Before I put the other starter in, I didnt hear it. I put the other starter in, and I would hear it the first few times i tried to start it, then it would stop, take the key out, and I would hear the starter again. I took the buzzer and 3 other relays (not DME) try and started her a few times, and heard the staretr going every time.

Check on your ground cables and make sure they are getting good contact.

no start, no crank

Could also be the actual key cylinder itself. If it is loose if abused then it will wiggle out of place when you turn the key.

is it posible for the key cylinder to break? I put a new ignition switch in, was slightly cracked, tried to start the car- nothing. I took the ket out and the metal peice that opens when the key goes stayed open and the buzzer keep buzzing untill I hit the cylinder to shut it and the buzzer would then go off. I readjusted the reference sensor, still no tach bounce.

i'm experiencing issues with my 87 924s (no start no crank) that seem very similar to the symptoms mentioned above.

OP, did you ever solve this problem? If so what was the issue/solution?

Any help is much appreciated!

I just went through the same thing. One day it would start one day it wouldn’t. No tach bounce checked the usual things nothing. Ended up being the ecu. I changed it out and no problem starting up.
