'88 944 55k miles will not start

i have checked the spark from the coil, from the plugs, which are new, i am not getting power to the fuel pump. with 12 volts on the
fuel pump it spins just fine. the car was running great, then one day stop to get gas and it would not start. Came back 6-7 hours later and it started right up. Gave it a tune up oil\plugs\air and fuel filter\even a new dme relay, tested the car ran great, the next day it would not start back up
any help would be appreciated, thanks

This problem did not happen to my 944, but rather to a friend of mine. The problem was the same as you have described. We were going to do what you described you already have done due to the suggestion of a local shop. We decided to get a second opinion and found out that the problem had nothing to do with we were told. The computer had been struck by lightning , and the only visible sign was a scorch mark on the top of the computer. It is worth looking into. Good luck.
