Bumper Lights

I am adding daytime running lights to my bumper (a NA to Turbo look a like). I brought some clear turn signals. I am on crunch for time I do not have the fogs yet because as you all know it is the most expensive part of this project. So being on a crunch for time and on a strict budget I have decided to do the 94-99 Chevy replacement to fill the fog light space on my car, under normal circumstances I would have not made this decision but....I will see...I figured the most I could lose is eighty bucks...when I thought about it I have lost so much in this car already it doesn't matter anymore. I made this post for anybody that wants to know how its done. I always thought it was cool! when I first saw this being done, two people so far that I have seen online but there wasn't much info on how it was done....I just knew I was never going to this to my car but life happens so now that I need a car fast (very fast) I have decided to make this mod..hey I have a fake Turbo bumper anyway so who cares??? hopefully I can do it in such a way that I do not have to ruin the back of the bumper to fit the lights in because on day I would like to get the correct lights but there is so much other stuff to do...the lights did not seem like a good way to spend seven hundred bucks right now...anyways, enough rambling. Here are some pics of me testing out the LED running lights and one of the lights gave out in two places after waiting 3 yrs for me to fix the car Lol! will keep y'all posted when I get the Chevy headlights this week coming.

Hello guys....Will I need to cut the factory connector from a S2 or Turbo model to the turn signals and splice them in to my my 16v S model or is it the same? Anybody converted a NA to a Turbo nose? Is the connectors the same for the two turn signals at the top of the bumper?

Test fitted the what would be the bottom lights to the Chevy on as the fog lights in my bumper...will definitely need to sand them down on the edges to make them fit. I chose the bottom lights because I can get long enough screws to fit in the corners of the lights and fasten to the back of the bumper without ruining the back of my bumper. So far so good and to me they look half way decent!

Didn't want to make another post just to show you all some pictures of my engine being completed after 5 yrs of sitting around in pieces waiting for a rebuild. Which is why I'm rushing to get this bumper done!

Those look just like the Chevy lights i bought to experiment with years ago, lol. A lot of trimming required. As i recall i didn't proceed with using them after getting them to fit because they're very flat and the bumper curves a lot more.

Its definitely a viable option if you need lights and aren't super picky.

You are most certainly correct. They are most flat which is definitely a trade off I have to suffer with for now. However, I am planning to cut them and align them as close as I can to match the angle of the curve on the bumper. Then I am going to paint the inside of them white to match the turn signals up top and paint the piece where I have been trimming with spray can primer leftover from spraying the bumper the first time. Wash it mask it off sand it down create a smooth finish and put it back on the car.

Do you know what type bulbs or connectors I will have to get to make this a success the first time around? I was thinking of changing everything to LED because of the daytime running lights I put on the bumper just to make it match or look more uniform. Though on most modern cars I see today have bulbs for main lights like headlights and fog lights and only LEDs for the DRLs or is this trend changing?

you might be able to bend the lenses slightly with some heat, depends if they're acrylic or polycarbonate (lexan)...they're cheap enough to mess up

The dealership Mech told me the ECU is bad....Mech there said the ECU is NOT putting out the signal to fire the injectors. I believe him, no more troubleshooting involved. Going to get another one soon.

I hope it's not the very common DME relay or a typical crank sensor issue.

Not trying to blow anybody off of course but you all do realize the car is at the dealership right? I am sure they have checked everything prior to telling me to buy a ECU and I'm getting one from off somebody or out of the junkyard and they will install it and test it out. Just thought I was going to hear it for the first time in 5yrs. Close but no cigar!

After I get this ECU though, we'll see.....but here is a pic of my mechanics car, which makes me have full confidence he can bring this thing home he brought us this far when no others couldn't around here in a matter of a few months and probably faster if I would've had more money.

They told me water got into it from the battery box I had fixed it too late....see what I mean...I had that ECU refurbished from the ECU doctor 500 dollars plus but the car sat up so long at this other guy's shop whom I won't dare utter his name water and weather eventually ruined it...now I need to spend another 200-300 bucks to get it running.

Well that's encouraging. Not many dealer wrenches know one end of a 944 from the other these days. Saying your car is at a main dealer these days would generally make me far less confident that it'd get attention from someone who knows the car at all.

You are right...and I felt like this too at first....but the service(s) I have been getting at Reeves Import Motorcars in Tampa is second to none, simply Awesome! They have made me feel like one of the big boys getting their GT3 Serviced or something...They truly know how to cater to the little guy.

Took some pictures of the car now that it has it's engine back in it waiting for the ECU to be installed....Oh yeah!...

More to come on the bumper lights, paint needs to dry and I need to reseal them before I can put them back on and also need to find a chevy truck to take the light sockets off of.

Dealership got the car running today!!! Possibly going to need a new Radiator, my E-bay one doesn't fit (Dealership) will not rigg anything so I will probably make my own brackets for it when i get it back from them and if I am lucky, which I am usually not I will need a new Brake Master/Slave combo and I should be able to start driving it pretty soon. Keeping my fingers crossed and y'all posted..
