wheel cleaner - hawk blue dust residue
anyone know a good cleaner to get the brake dust off wheels from hawk blue pads?
I see frequent posts of people who use hawk blue. I tried them on my 944 DE track car based on a recommendation from a friend who tracks 944s. never again. they work pretty good, but I found them a bit hard to modulate smoothly at threshold. the dust and having to replace the rotors with each set of pads just do not work for me. went back to the pagid yellows I had run on my 911. I have tried several cleaners but there is some residue just bonded into the wheel rims. they are uncoated aluminum Kinesis. about to use fine sand paper, and once the residue is off then sand with finer and finer until I can buff them up again.
