Late car wiring harness concerns

This is more as an FYI for everyone, and I remember this being discussed by someone over on the Renn forum.

I was disassembling a 951 wiring harness, and came across these really scary looking wires. They had degraded all of the way down to the block that plugs into the central electrics fuse panel. I am pretty sure that these are related to the high/low cooling fans, and those always-degraded wires you find up near the HVAC fan.

Now, I don't have the full history on this wiring harness, other than I got it from Pauerman many years ago. I believe that the car was not a fire casualty, as the wiring harness is in otherwise good shape.

Some scary pictures for you:

The particular blocks in the central electrics that contain these wires are "F" and "O", if you want to look at the current diagrams and figure things out.

Those look like the wires for the fan resistors and yes it’s a common issue that needs addressing in most all 944’s. Iirc those black plastic “disk” things are temperature sensors fitted to later cars in an effort to prevent the wiring getting too hot but it really didn’t work.
