Continuous HEAT!
I have an 86-944 and recently the heat has decided to stay on all the time. I was on a
long drive the other day when this happened and about an hour into the drive it corrected itself and began blowing the cooler outside air. I later stopped and turned off the car for about 30 mins. and when I got back on the road again the heat was back on. No relief the second time. Has anyone experienced this before. The first place I feel I should check is the heater control valve. Any thoughts? |

Rob,
I had a similar occurrence. There is a little lever underneath the steering column that tends to break. I think it opens and closes a valve for the defrost. You might be able to feel it by searching around while sitting in the driver's seat, but it would probably be better to be looking up at it. Paul |

I had a similar problem in my '83 944. I replaced the heater controls and purchased new clips for the lever wires. The plastic mounts for the clips are very fragile and break easily. Replacing the control panel ($50 Cdn from Porsche) solved my problem.

Thanks guys! I found the broken plastic clip underneath the dash, by the steering column. Now the $$$ question is where can I get one?
