LEDs in tail light
 

Any recommendations on using LED bulbs in tail lights? Some folks saying use red bulbs behind red reflectors, stuff about polarity, etc.

Yes, match the color of the LED to the lens color.

I use them in the back up lamps of several of my classic cars with good results. However, I've heard the tail lamps and brake lights LEDs are a crap shoot of quality and appearance. Lots of complaints that the directional light of an LED doesn't play with the the older lamps designed for a non directional filament bulb. They try with festooning the LEDs all over it but anyhow - be advised.
