85 944 relays

Hello, Im new here and in need advice from those that are familiar with the '85 944.

From what I gather, this is considered an early 85. This car is new to me and trying to get educated on whats what and where things are located. This one has the usual bank of relays above the fuse panel, but also two others to the right of the steering column, just ahead of the center console trim and about an inch square.

The one in question is aluminum covered, dangling from its own pigtail and gets rather warm even with the ignition off. Im thinking theres a short of some kind thats powering it because this doesnt seem normal. What are these two relays for? If anyone can shed any light it will be greatly appreciated.
