first start 1984 944 N/A oil pressure
hi guys
![]() Bought my first ever Porsche car in new year time and sorting out some fuel delivery issues for now. Tried to start for the first time since then : the good - it starts , engine run somewhat smooth(a bit shaky - passenger side motor mount I guess ) the bad - oil pressure gauge behavior is strange(see the video) - after complete warm up there is no cold air from vents - only hot air, no matter of heater switch lever position(easy fix I guess - heater valve 944 572 085 02) the worst - when i get under car to drain oil(for future service work) i find an oil leak on the ground, about 200 grams . hard to tell exact point but it in the oil cooler area. Probably OPRV fail - that's explain oil pressure gauge behavior, but looks like it has a leak for a long time - sway bar bushing is swelled out and cracked. Oil is everywhere on the passenger side bottom. What are you think? that's my first experience check the videos(the smoke on the first video is a fogging oil - the first thing i did when i bought the car it stops smoke after warm up) so, first start - https://youtu.be/ha_4Qoj_iLc after complete warm up - https://youtu.be/jus1RYy5Pkg |

128k? I would expect too see 3.5 bars cold and maybe 2.5 when warm. Best start with changing oil pressure sensor and taking off, cleaning and replace the seals on the Oil/Air Separator (crankcase breather assembly)

yes, after warm up - perfect
but right after start - definitely something wrong . Pissing oil isn't normal When engine reached working temperature it stop leaking , there was some small dripping, but hard to tell exactly as the under belly pan was in place I will investigate it later, when i remove timing belts, water pump, oil cooler..... but is good to know what to expect, maybe somebody has had similar symptoms ![]() |
