Which radio: “220 F Cassette Radio GT2” sticker code K08? 1986 944 Turbo
Hi All,
My car was built in February of 1986 and sold May 1986. I’m the third owner. I had the local Porsche dealer run my VIN and they provided me with a document that says the radio option my 1986 944 Turbo came with is “220 F Cassette radio GT2”. On my trunk sticker, I have K08 where the radio code typically is. I know that the 1986 944 typically came with a Blaupunkt Monterey, but none of my codes indicate that my car did. The second owner removed a Charleston, but I don’t think those were available in 1986? Perhaps the Charleston was a replacement by the owner before him? Who knows... The first owner told me that the car had a car phone. Did those exist in 1986 and if so, what radio did they use? The original owner can’t rememebr if the dealer installed the car phone, or if he did that later. Any help would be greatly appreciated ![]() ![]() ![]()

There’s a mistake/misprint on that document from the dealer, code 220 is incorrectly listed and that cassette radio was not one offered on our cars. Option 220 is always LSD which you don’t have on your options decal. All 1986 944’s came with a Monterey unless a different radio is listed on the decal, which there isn’t in your case. As for phones, they were available but were country specific. I think US dealers fitted GTE phones which were operated by Bell who I think are now Verizon.

Thank you. The 5R code on my sticker is actually an LSD transmission.
May you please post a picture of the option sticker in your trunk with the phone? Is the K08 in there? What radio do you have? Is that a Reno? It doesn’t look like a Monterey. Also, do you have the fader dial on the center console with the cellphone and Reno doesn’t look like it. I have the faded dial which might narrow down my radio to a Monterey or Charleston (both two channel). All four channel radios didn’t have the faded dial? Thanks

That’s not my car, it’s just a picture I found of a 944 with a period phone.
