1990 Porsche 944 S2 rear deck lid badging

Hello to all you Porsche enthusiasts! I am looking for actual facts here and hope that someone has this knowledge so I can finish my project.
I have a 1990 Porsche S2 cab., Black/Black w/ White Linen interior. When I received the car, it didn't have the rear deck lid badging on it. I called Porsche and they told me that they didn't keep records back then of that info. Of all the cars I saw to date, they all seemed to have black badging. Would that also mean that a black car would have black badging?

Black cars have a silver emblem. Part number 944.559.220.01 for an S2 badge in silver. As well, the 'PORSCHE' decal just above the bumper is also silver. Part number 477.853.635C. All other colors have black badges and decals.

Here are pictures of a couple black cabs and one of my white cab.
My S2 cab does not have any badges on the rear deck lid. It has the Porsche lettering above the bumper but that is all I have ever seen on the back of a cab.
I have never seen the 944 S2 badge on the back of a cab. I think it was only installed on the coupes.

1990 Porshce 944 S2 Badging

drkshdw, I appreciate the swift response. Does this also apply to the Cabs as well? Is this information knowledge that you gained while working in the industry? What are your qualifications? Like azbanks says, I have never seen a Cab with the badging either.

I have never seen an S2 cab with factory badging. Not sure about the RoW Turbo cabs.

Silver markings on Velvet Red Metallic. Corroborated by a pic of a pic of "my" car at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart (which may or may not upload)

Looks like a coupe though.

It is a coupe, but it demonstrates evidence of a non black car with silver markings.

guys, We are looking for evidence of whether or not a Cab has badging and if so what color would a black Cab have.

Here's the back of mine. We don't need no stinkin badges!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1558726022.jpg

steveo12345, Agreed! but if it was ever there from the start, I would want to replace in order to bring the car back to it's original state.

Also, in line with the door moldings, is a piece that says, 16 valve ventiler. is yours blacked out or chrome?

Mikey M

The "16 valve ventiler" script on my car is blacked out.

Mine as well! Thanks Steveo. it looks like this car is as original as it gets! I am finally done.

Happy riding!!!

I would still like to hear from someone that knows for sure that the Cabs didn't come with any badging. Right now we are all assuming that they didn't because we never saw one with Badging.

The factory Information Technik brochure for the S2 Cab has one picture of the rear on page 5 and it doesn’t have any badging, that should be “official” enough to confirm that they didn’t come from Porsche with a badge on the rear.

Btw Mikey M, this 66-page brochure is for sale as I no longer have a cab, pm if you are interested.

The only 944 cabs that I have seen with a badge on the back were European spec turbos. From what I have read the turbos were never offered in the US.

Just ran across this thread. If Mikey M did not purchase your manuals, I would be interested.
Thanks

When my dad bought mine in 1990, there was a new cab in a friends neighborhood. It did not have a rear badge, and I have never seen one that has. Saw one just the other day, no badge. Not having seen one in 30 years with a badge tells me there was no badge.

I bought a very low mile, no accidents, no re-paint 1991 S2 Cab in the mid 90's no badge. I've never seen a cab with a badge.
