My new (new to me) 944

Hello;

My name is John and I just bought a 1983 Porsche 944. (While I've always wanted to own one, this is the first Porsche I've ever owned so I still have much fear and respect for it... Bought it last Tuesday, went to drive it on Wednesday and the clutch pedal wouldn't come back up... AHHHH ;-) So it spent Wednesday and Thursday at the local Porsche mechanic)

I'll admit that it's been years since I worked on my own cars and I'm having much of the work it needs done by my local mechanic but there are other areas that I figured my 14 year old son (who is in love with the car) and I'd start with. First, the left clip on the passenger side sunvisor is broken. In your catalog it mentions replacing clips, then only lists brackets (P/N 803-857-561A) in the description area. Is this the part I should order? Also, the carpeted area on the console around the shifter has a small hole on the passenger side. On the drivers side there is the balance (forward/back) mounted there. Was there something there where the hole is now? Should I just pick up and trim a small chunk of carpet to replace this section or is there a catalog item I missed?

Last question: At other sites, I've seen the shift knob and boot sold separately, in your catalog you list(477-711-205D) as the shifter. Does that include the boot too or just the top knob?

I know it would increase disk space immensely, but pictures for all parts would be fantastic for us just getting started:-)

Thanks for any suggestions and replies...

I would just like to add my vote for having pictures of the parts available, as well as the description.

i have a 83 also and mine does not have the cutout on the centre console carpet, if you find a source for the carpet to fill the hole then please let me know as i am finding it impossible to replace the console carpet in the tan i have, that cigarette burn is really starting to bug me now and i really need to fix it with a new piece of carpet

thanks
shaun
