924S Motor mount question

I'm going to be replacing my motor mounts tomorrow and I was wondering if I need to replace any of the mounting bolts or if I can just re-use the existing hardware with the new mounts? The mounts have never been replaced on this car so the replacements I have are the updated design. Didn't know if the hardware was different at all between the old and the new design.

I have heard it is a difficult job to get the new taller mount to line up and fit. Someone posted a method where the mount and the engine bracket were removed and installed as one to make the job easier. Changing 944 engine mounts the easy way.

I have never tried either method and if it involves removing the exhaust manifold, it doesn't sound easy either way, but I have some seriously bad dash rattling vibrations at idle I think are an engine mount collapse.

Pretty sure all the 924S had the newer designed mounts from the factory so it should be a straight swap. Iirc the old style mounts, without the 4mm washers, was only up to 85.5.

That's good to hear, I was worried I be half way through the job to find out I had the wrong hardware. Thanks

Fyi I found the tsb from 85, so that confirms your later 924S should have come with updated mounts.

I wonder if anyone tried it to confirm it works? Did the exhaust manifold have to be removed?

The first time I changed mine was a pain and I didn't know what I know now about the difference between parts (I had bought the cheaper mounts), sad to say lesson learned and no fun doing a job twice...
