944T 1986 One bright Fog Light

Ive seen this before on cars but not sure what is causing it. One fog light is much brighter than the other??
Also the idle will drop down to 500 or so and slowly climb up to 950 after letting of the gas, any ideas to what would cause this?

Thanks for any help...

Here's a test you can run on the dim light. To see if it's in the housing or back in the circuit . Disconnect it and run two jumper wires to it and see if it becomes brighter. If It does you may have a bad gnd wire connection or feeder wire. I looked at the elec.print on a 84 model and both lights run off the same fuse #15 and same switch connection. If it does not become brighter your problem is in the housing connections or bulb. Oh you could just swap the housing and or blubs and see if the problem moves with the dim one. If it does there is a problem with the blub or housing.

As for the other part I have no Clue. I have not worked on there engine control circuits YET! and hope I don't have TOO!

I've cured one problem, seems to simple of a solution, especially since several mechanics said that the car is just that way (rough low idle).
The idle problem, I just set the detent higher, that wont allow the idle to drop lower than 900 or so, it still idles around 950 but the detent wont allow it to go lower. It seems to have made the car much easier to deal with, no shaking, rattling or aggrevation. I dont see a problem with it so far, anyone else see any???
Still havent tried the trounble shooting techniques suggested by Jody, looking forward to that.
Thanks

I had an idle problem, for a while. It would do the same thing you described, and when i turned the AC on, it dropped to 700 or less, and the vibration made the whole car shake.

The problem, i found out was a vacuum leak, in the rubber piece that connects the Mass Air Flow Sensor to the throttle body. It was leaking in non-metered air, and the computer was confused by it.

Check the metal tube that is connected to the bottom of the rubber intake runner. It is very hard to connect them. Your best bet, is to remove the rubber runner, and the tube, Connect them together on a bench, thihten the clamp, and hook the entire unit back into the car.
