dude, don't get a rustang

wait, what are you looking to get out of this?

do you want to race redlight to redlight? if you do, don't buy a porsche, if you want to look cool because of the car you have, don't buy a porsche, if you want to have a great handling, fun to drive car and you like working with your hands, then get a porsche

$325 every 6 months, full coverage, 250 collision, 50 comprehensive.

I'm 33, no accidents

Expect to pay 3 times that and then some.

When I first got my 944 a few years ago. I was 16 myself (male). I didn't carry anything but liability, and I think it was around $350 every six months. I didn't think that was bad at all provided it was in my dads name with me as a part time driver. If your parents are willing to put you under their poilcy (some won't) it will save you hundred's a year.

(IMHO when you've got a car that old anyway why pay out of the butt just to get a few grand anyway, I had always felt that in the long run I would pay way more for full coverage than say what I would actually get if I wrecked it.)

Now if you were in the field of say age 28-35 with a perfect record, for no more than it would cost to get full coverage it would probably be worth it.

That's why insurance rates are high for the younger crowd!

But, speedingpenguin: you did mention autox, so that's a terrific start. If you are into autox, the Mustang isn't the best car to play with: you really need to do all sorts of suspension tricks to make them go well in the corners.

If you're looking for a nimble, well handling sports car, but aren't too worried about top speed, then the following list may be of use to you:
1. Porsche 944
2. Toyota MR2
3. Mazda Miata
4. BMW 3-series (older models)
5. Acura Integra
4. Nissan 240SX
4. Subaru Imprezza (Not the WRX)

These cars are good or great handling cars and are for the most part, reliable. Most can be had for around $5k in decent shape.

HTH,
-Zoltan.

I recently checked Grundy for a quote- it was less than half of my premium for the LIABILITY ONLY State Farm I've had for 5 years.

BTW 600$ a year from State Farm, I'm 42 and i drive the speed limit- (No accidents for over 10 years, knock on wood!)maybe 5 over on the road.. when its Guards Red you kind have to drive the limit!!

I got mine when I was 17 (19 now)... My 3rd car, glad it wasn't my first...
Its quick, quick enough to get you in trouble, easy enough to drive to keep you out of some as well.

My insurance is about 150 a month on my mom's policy, full coverage.

Edit:
No tickets, no accidents (on record), no nufin
