How to flush oil and coolant sys?

I have the TCBY's flavored oil with a nice topping of coolant. How do you guys recommend I flush my two systems out?

BTW, do guys think $450 was too much to pay for a rebuilt head w/ warranty?

I am blessed/cursed with these cars:

BMW 318iS 1991
BMW 325iS 1988
Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon 1992

Quote of the week:

"This chemical is known to cause Birth Defects in California."

Poor Californians, they are always getting the short end of it, and now this?

Noper, not a bad price at all - what was replaced? For that, definately new guides, seals, seats, lapping and decking, springs and valves as needed.

You are in luck, most of the cooling system comes out - or at least the important bits. Since you are replacing your head, its even easier.

remove all hoses, soak in hot soapy water - clean with bottle brush - remove all soap.

degrease waterpump to best fo your ability

When head is off, use a shop vac to remove coolant fromwater jacket -you can modify an attachment for this purpose. Spray down with degreaser and rinse, drain - repeat..

Oil system: Mineral spritis are your best friend - fill the oil pan and let it soak (with it still in the car)

Pour same down oil filter\cooler assy

drain all, refill with oil, put engine pack together

change oil couple of hundred miles later.

Es geht nicht darum wie schnell man faehrt, sondern wie gut man schnell fahren kann.
