85.5 Crank, No-Start, need more ideas
I have been chasing this issue since buying the car last Fall. The only way the car would start initially was 50amp setting on charger.
I have since gone through and restored and rebuilt the top end, full tune up, hoses etc. The engine fired perfectly on first crank. I drove the car around for a few minutes and allowed to idle while I rinsed off the shop dust. The gngine quit soon after. I have verified timing belts/pulleys are still in place and not jumped. I have perfect fuel pressure, spark, new ref sensors and harness etc. The injcetor noid light begins to glow after 2-3 seconds of cranking and lightly pulses as cranking continues. I am suspect of the injector driver in DME. Any ideas or items to test, please pass along. Thanks, NW |

Need more definitive testing results.
1. measure peak-to-peak waveforms of speed/ref sensor with oscilloscope. What is this voltage-spread? 2. pull fuel-rail with injectors attached. Place little cups under each injector. Crank for 10-sec. How much fuel did you collect in each cup? 3. what is intake-manifold vacuum when cranking? 4. what is fuel-pressure in rail with vacuum hose disconnected? 5. what is fuel-pressure in rail with vacuum hose connected? |

There's problem. It should be pulsing immediately. This is probably just effect, not cause of your starting issue. Probably speed/ref sensors need adjustment. Need to know exactly what their waveforms look like with oscilloscope though.
