Thermostat seating properly???

I'm installing the waterpump with the new thermostat. When I put the thermostat in with the c-clip, it moves around. I checked the repair manual and it looks like it doesn't have a rubber seal between the thermostat and where it seats on the water pump. Is it ok to move around????

BTW, The new thermostat came with a rubber gasket, but it was too small to use.

HELP!

Do you have part #10 shown in this diagram? I have never had one that moved around before, in fact they are water tight for the most part, and usually gush all over me when I remove it.

Nope! The rubber ring OD is almost the same as the ID of where the thermostat seats. I guess I'll have wait till Monday and call Ian for the gasket.

Thanks!
