Cant' believe I'm posting this... CAR FOR SALE!!!

God, I'm going to regret this in the morning but... Anyway- here it goes.
1988 944 w/ 115K- Gold w/ brn leather interior
Repaint 3 yrs ago (for looks- not due to accident)
New(ish) Yoka AVS tires 205/65/15
Koni yellows in rear
Ansa cat back w/Dyno flow cat
Weltmeister chip & obligitory K&N filter
Time/bal belts done less than 700 miles ago
Water pump & rollers @ 80K
Clutch done @ 70K
I have all pw since I bought the car in 1999 (something like $8500 in receipts..That makes me sick!)
Nice car and insanely clean- only thing wrong is cracked dash, worn driver's seat & wheel.
Asking $5900 but really looking for best offer over $5k. I can email pics on request.
Car is in Jax, FL

A 944 is not a terribly practical family car. We have a 4 month old and our other vehicles are a 95 Cherokee w/130k and a 79 Jeep CJ (again, not a good family car). When the Cherokee goes down, we are with out "baby" wheels- so it has to go.

I think if I keep reading this post, I'll convince myself it's the right thing to do...eventually.

Middle age smacks another one in the face! Make the wife take the Jeep and always go in two vehicles! Man... it's like my worst nightmare... happening to someone else. Wish I had the $$$ to buy it.k

No you are dead wrong guy... it is a great Family car when your kids are old enough to know that getting dropped off at the movies or soccer practice in a Porsche is cool.... then, it's a great Family car.. a minivan is a great kid crud car.... garage it, trust me... I've sold way too many cool cars to justify that I was doing the right thing... and I wasn't... wouldn't it be nice to teach your 16 year old son/daughter how to drive in your old porsche... c'mon, don't fall for the minivan plea.. yeah buy one, but keep your car.... you'll be thanking me in about 10 years......

practicality is slowly taking over the world! Here's the plan...buy one of the early 90s caravans with AWD (make sure it's the 3.0), and drop the 3000GT VR-4 engine into it. It's just one of my weird sleepers that I want to build someday, now I just need a little over a million dallars and my Mclaren F1 TT will exist!

If you have to buy a minivan, don't buy a Caravan!!!

We got our 2002 Kia Sedona, fully loaded (leather seats...easy to wipe kid crud off of, sunroof, CD, removable seats, captain chairs 2nd row, etc.) for 20,900 (I think...maybe it was 21,900). ANYHOW...you can't touch a fully loaded minivan for that price from Dodge, Ford, Chevy, or Honda (Odessy's are in the neighborhood of $36,000). I would buy another one tomorrow if I had to...I have had no problems with it.

Maybe that will help convince you that you can keep your P-car AND get the kid car at the same time???

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Pam B.

Keep the 944, lose the Jeep CJ and buy a used minivan. You can always get another jeep later. How many 944's in great shape will be around in 5 or 10 years? How much will one cost you to bring it up to the condition of yours?

That is your best option.....

To be honest, selling the 944 isn't entirely MY decision (you know what I mean). Besides, I've mention the words "944 Turbo" too many times in front of my wife to sell her on keeping my N/A. The CJ is worth about 1K if I was lucky (they sell pretty cheap around here).

Pam B- Don't worry- A mini van will NEVER be in my future (I'm practical but not dead).

Dog,
I shared your pain. I just bought my 944 s2 cab last month. It's my first sports car in 10 years. When our daughter was born, ten years ago, I had to sell my 72 MGB. Although it was my daily driver, it was not a good choice for a baby buggy. We only had enough room for two cars. Luckily, I found a really good used saab 900 turbo, fast, safe, practical, cheap to buy and easy to work on. Anyway life moves on. Now with two kids, 10 and 9, and a bigger house with room for more toys, I can have an extra car.

BTW, I've been using the S2 as my daily driver since I bought it. You may not be able to fit baby seats in it but small children fit great. They also love riding in it.
Good Luck
Dave

Midlife and kids! I have the Porsche to play with, Mamma has a 03 Buick Rendvzous, and my 95 F-150. (I need the P/U to pull the car /utility trailer, I do a bit of buying/selling of cars, it's a hobby) A 99 Kaw Drifter. for "alone" trips. Folks, it can be done, and only 1 car payment in the bunch! With a P car you muct have "extra" cars, its mandatory! LOL!
