Solved! - Very embarrasing stripped cam bolt w/damage

Hello Friends,

First, let me thank you all for everything I've learned so far, it's been wonderful having this forum as a helper!

1987 Porsche 924S, red. I'm attempting to do the front seals and timing/balance belts/pulleys, etc.

My embarrassing issue :

1. I stripped my cam bolt
2. In my crappy attempts to drill it out, I think I ruined what I think is part #18, "driver" 944 105 142 00.
3. I think I also ruined a number of other parts.
4. It's still on the car...

What do you recommend, can you help? Should I get a 3/4 cobalt drill bit and just go to town, then deal with the issues after I get this off? Any other advice for this unfortunate noob?

Thank you all in advance!

Easy fix...

1) Obtain a new bolt 19 and the driver 18 (from Porsche dealer or Porsche specialist, like Pelican)
2) Find a drill bit that matches the diameter of the new bolt 19 (it's 10 mm).
3) Start drilling. When you have drilled far enough, you will hear a pop as the head climbs onto the drill bit.
4) Remove part number 18.
5) spin the rest of the old bolt out... Since it is no longer under pressure, it will spin out easy.

Thank you George! I've got the bolt already and I'll order the driver, they seem to be obtainable and I'll continue to go to town on that bolt. Many thanks!

Good tool to loosen that bolt is impact-driver that you hit with hammer. The force of hammer blows ensures the cheesehead bit is firmly engaged in head of bolt.
