Low Fuel Lamp not working

I decided to test whether my low fuel lamp would come on. This was a stupid thing to do without a can of gas in the car, but I was able to idle down a hill and just-about coast into a gas station before running out of fuel.

Any usual suspects I should consider? The fuel gauge works fine - just no lamp on the gauge of my 1984. All the other lamps on the gauge work perfectly, so I'm surprised this one is not coming ON when it should.

Thanks for the help.

There is a wire in the fuel sending unit that likes to break off. This is most likely your problem

The broken wire is the low fuel light wire. You need to solder it back on
