How hard is it to install power windows and door locks on a 924 if it didn't have them? Can a non power sunroof be converted to a powered sunroof? Does the power sunroof take away any head room? How hard is it to install a/c and radio controls on the steering wheel or column? Thanks.

For all the installations you want to do, it would be more economical to sell what you got and buy another 924/944 with those options installed.

If you wanted to do it yourself and were quite handy, you could probably get all the mirror motors, A/C and all for under $500, but that is only my guess.

Installations on Porsches are co$tly.

Personal opinion:

Why make your car heavier, more prone to reliability problems, and the like?

I've driven an S that had power everything, and drive a 2.5 944 NA almost everyday. Although the 924S has a lower (slightly) hp engine, overall a much better package, being as light as it is.

I don't have a Porsche yet but I want a '80 924 turbo so I can't be to picky on what it has. I want power is because I'm also putting in a 5-piont seat belt so I wont be able to reach very far without taking off the seat belt.

My main concern is power windows and door locks. But I also want ac and radio controls within reach if possible.

Just wondering Kaffine. How did you come up with a 80 924T? And why the 5 point seat belt? If it's for racing, you definitely don't want the AC and all the other stuff.

I want the '80 924T because I want to do an engine swap and the smog laws aren't as strict for pre '81. I want the 5 point because I will most likely drag race it on occasion and I want to try for the 150 club at the Bonneville salt flats. But it will mostly be a daily driver so I want the convience of power and need AC. This should be a fun project and a fun car when I'm done.

Power windows and door locks are somewhat simple to install, there are various universal kits available. Power door locks run about $100. and slightly less, are quite simple, power windows run about $180.-$240., and are a littler tougher to install, but, not much tougher, if you are a little mechanically inclined, it will be no sweat. Pick up an issue of Lowrider magazine, there are a bunch of different advertizers that offer them in their advertizing in there. I have done the power locks in a 911 I had, was a cinch, and saw a few of the power window installations, didn't look hard either.
