Cracked tank that wasn’t

I just put the gas tank back in on the 924s because of suspected crack in the tank. It was pressure tested at the radiator shop and showed no cracks. I replaced some of the hoses and it looked to be the hose from the top of the tank going up to the overflow near the window was the culprit. I nervously filled it up to full with gas, but no fumes yet!
Now the shifter is loose I think because of removal of a lot of the black oily sludge around it. A short shift kit is on the cards for my shelter in place time here in NorCal.
Hope everyone stays well.

Glad it worked out.

It's funny you've mentioned this... My car would always emit gasoline fumes if I filled the tank over 1/2 so I restored the tank/replaced fuel lines, etc. about 4 yrs ago, only to have the issue continue (improved but not totally mitigated). The source of fume release wasn't found until a couple months ago when I decided to clean up all wheel wells and, upon removing the charcoal canister, I found this:

The problem has seemed to disappear since swapping the canister with a spare I had. As a test, I filled the tank over this past weekend and no smell was detected while driving @70 miles. Hope to take her out again this coming weekend!

Your guys' experiences are why I'm replacing mine in one fell swoop. I did the same to my SC. John
