Damaged transmission mount 924s
I took off the driver side trans mount to fit a shirt shifter. The bolt that goes into the body appears to be stripped in about two of the threads. I must have damaged it putting the trans back in. To best fix this, can I tap the thread one size bigger and use the next size fastener? Use a thread repair product?
I remember when I was fitting this, that the driver and passenger side bolts were different lengths. Would that damage the threads if I mixed up the sides? Thanks for any advice |

If you have access to get a drill in there nice and straight to prepare the hole, I'd use a Helicoil or TimeSert. Should not be a big deal, but make sure you measure the threaded hole's depth first; I put a bit of tape on my drill bit to give me a visual on when to stop drilling. Most NAPA's carry metric Helicoil kits, and because car repair is still deemed "essential", you should be able to go in and buy one, or do a curbside deal.
Best of luck - and health - to you and yours, John |
