bad reassembly by paint shop

Among several shorted electrical issues was a door lock that forced me to climb in through the rear hatch (right in front of a police station). that drew some attention. I had to basically remove all the mechanisms associated with the door internals and this is what I found: The linkage from the outer door handle was welded to a nut. New ones on order.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

And I'll bet that the paint shop is stepping right up to take credit for that work! Wow!

How's the paint look though? I'm just curious because great paint can be laid down by the painter, regardless of the assembly guys in the other end of the building.

Paint job was good. It's just their ability to put it back together to expected standards gets them an F. I didn't bother to take it up with them since I'm restoring the car and every challenge is an education. As such I now have a PHD in 944's of all models. Also it's kinda hard to screw up white. Then again, I was just happy to get it out of their shop.

Does anyone know for sure if this linkage fits the early cars with the VW style handles? Some parts places online, including Pelican, show it fitting only 85+ cars. I ordered one for my 1984 thinking it will likely fit but wanted to ask.
