Remove & Reposition rear "944" badge

A previous owner had the car resprayed and whoever reapplied the "944" badge to the rear didn't make much of an attempt to place it in the correct location.

I should probably just leave it as-is, but it does bother me. I'm hoping that I can remove it without damaging the badge itself or the underlying paint. I have some plastic trim removal tools and dental floss. Any other or better ideas?

Is there a recommended adhesive to reapply - and most importantly, is there a known set of measurements to make sure the "944" gets positioned properly?

Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure if it matters but you may want to post the year of your car in case there were slight differences over the years like early versus late 944.

GooGone is a good adhesive remover and most auto parts stores sell 3M trim adhesive tape which is what I'd recommend.

I found a post on Rennlist describing the vertical factory location as one inch above the bend and mid-point of the middle number (4) is just about lined up where the the brake and reverse light lenses meet. This seems right to me. By that metric I'm about 1/2 inch too low and 1" too far to the outside edge.

Wow, perfect! I'm going to get my dental floss working on my badge.
