volts

i own a 86 944.when the car is cold the volt gauge will read 14 volts as it nomally does them after 10 or 15 of driving the volts drop alittle below 13 with no accesories on.it has a new battery and alternator.any ideas?

I have an 86 944. Mine does the same as you describe. If the volt meter is not reading below 12 Volts while operating the vehicle, the battery is not being dicharged. This has not caused a problem for me in 18 months. A properly operating voltage regulator will decrease output, this is to prevent overcharging/boiling the batery.
