Need HELP removing trans
Hi all,
I started a clutch job on my '86 944 yesterday. Everything went good until I tried to get the tranaxel out. The coupler between the input shaft and the drive shaft will not disengage. It appears that I need about an inch more travel to remove it. I've tried siding it on to the drive shaft but it seems to be at its limits. I have not tried sliding it on to the input shaft yet. Is this even possible? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |
You're supposed to slide it towards the input shaft, towards the transaxle that is...
I do hope you've got a shop manual of some kind to go by... Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |
Thanks, I do have the Haynes manual but it is not clear on how to disengage the coupler.
Thanks again for the info. I'll give it a try. |
No prob.
BTW, you slide the coupler after both the bolts are out, since the bolts actually go through little grooves both on the torque tube, and the input shaft. Make sure you use the right tools for this, and clean them before use, don't apply torque until the socket is securely engaged/in the bolt... Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |
