mystery wires

Any ideas where these two wires should go? They are brown with black tracer and brown. Also they have pins on them that infers that they should be plugged into something. They're in the area of the diagnostic black port.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Did you look inside the diagnostic port for missing wires? It's a bit difficult to tell from the picture if the fittings are male or female but this is what you should see.

Looks like a hood light or switch connector where the plastic has been smashed.

Well, I guess I'll have to check on the hood light but the pins on the end of the wires make that unlikely. I think it may be for the diagnostic port and were accidently pulled out when I was rebuilding all the brake and steering systems.

Hmmm, interesting, I'll have to go check that out.....nope those are wired. I'm pretty sure they're out of the diagnostic port.

I found this unplugged harness today by the speed/ref sensors. Any idea what they are for? Thanks for your help!

I'd recommend a separate posting for this to get to the masses.

Well after a lot of wiring diagrams I found that the two mystery wires were for the hood alarm switch. Well I'm going to re-wire it so the under-hood light isn't on all the time the lights are on. With the parking lights on and the hood open, then the light will be on. I figure it'll save bulbs from wearing out. Another mystery solved.

There's a hood alarm switch? I guess mine hasn't failed yet. Maybe next week...
