Outer CV backwards - I think
I have had this car for less than a year and still learning about things. This morning I decided to check the torque on my CV joints. The good news is that the joints look nice and the bolts are tight and the boots are in perfect condition and must have been replaced somewhat recently.
However, the bad news is that it looks to me that somebody may have installed the outer CV joint backwards since the groove is facing inwards towards the boot. Both sides of the car are like this, with the outer joint facing what appears to be the wrong direction. Both inner joints look good to me since the groove is facing the transaxle. Am I right that these are not oriented correctly? If so, should I make it a priority to remedy this and will they be OK to reuse? I can see a VW & Audi logo stamped into one of them. Would this this indicate that they are the original joint? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1596307066.jpg |
It doesn't make any difference which way the joints are orientated.

Thanks, that's good news.
