replacing dme unit. any suggestions?
well, after i managed to screw up my dme unit, i'm now looking forward to installing another unit.
i disconnected the negative cable, and its well out the way! is there anything i should be checking, before i put this other unit in, and try it out? what about the dme relay? are there any fuses to consider? i'm wondering what the little case, that bolts on with the dme unit does? the one on the right side{84 model}? i'm almost wetting my pants, coz i keep getting this awful feeling, that the engine is just going to keep cranking, and not start! i know jack-s..t, when it comes to car electrickery!! any suggestions/idea's, most gratefully accepted! |
Make sure you ground yourself, I would disconnect both the leads to the battery (OK, I wouldn't but it's good practice).

be vigilent. Be double sure to remark where the alt. sensor is mounted. it shares bolts with the DME. If that doesn't work, or before you try to replace it, this is what I'd check, in the order that I'd check it in.

coil wire
coil wire. yes I know, but I have my reasons
plug wires
coil
Check and see if you are getting secondary pulse.
TDC sensor
relay
