Script fabric wearing out

These seats were recovered by PO and were near perfect last year. After less than a year I’m seeing a bad wear area on the drivers seat that corresponds to my getting in/out of the car with a wallet in my back pocket.

I can understand that this wear could occur over time but surprised to see it develop in only 8 months.

Lose the wallet???

I agree with George, I have nothing in my pockets when I'm driving.

If you get in the habit of having nothing in your pocket when getting in the car, you will never suffer the heartbreak of sitting down with a screwdriver in your back pocket...

I remember when my dad did that. I'm story telling here: He was an electrician and always had tools in his pockets. He sometimes would take them out of his pockets and put them on the seat. These were the days of bench seats.
My mom and dad were going out for the evening - a rare event when I was young. My mom was wearing a dress and sat in the car. My dad had a roll of black electrical tape on the seat with some tools. Well the glue from the tape got on my mom's dress. She was not happy. The tools and the tape went flying out of the car. Lesson learned. My dad got an empty cigar box and placed it on the the front seat. When he took his tools out of his pockets, they went in the box. Old habits die hard.

But seriously.

Even if I skip the back-pocket wallet forever and forever, this is what happened to the pretty much new fabric in less than a year, which seems like a lot of wear in a short time. The PO recovered the seats, which was a nice benefit to me and I didn't pay more for the car because of the seats. No use complaining at this point, but maybe this can help somebody.

I'm willing to bet that the fabric is not the Porsche original, but a copy. The Porsche stuff wears very well, considering its age.

Sorry to see the wear... That's why I invested in custom seat covers - purchased from Seat Covers Unlimited a few years ago. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1597488234.jpg
